The documentary Children on hold is a series of stories on foster parenthood. Vida tells us of her experiences with the rugged system while watching foster children grow, and of how she ended up with a host of unanswered questions. David tells us that in spite of the fact that the conditions in his foster home were favourable his life really started when he was adopted. David’s sister Patricia and Mrs. Pega both embarked on an independent existence when they were eighteen. Tadej, on the contrary, took seventeen years spent in a foster home to realize that when he comes of age he will have no family and nowhere to go.
